General Usage
How does AviarySoft's desktop interface work?
On desktop, AviarySoft uses a windowed interface: each page opens in a window you can drag, resize, minimize or maximize, just like a computer desktop. On mobile, the interface automatically adapts with classic tab navigation at the bottom of the screen.
What is the command palette for?
The command palette (accessible with Cmd+K on Mac or Ctrl+K on PC) lets you quickly search for a bird, a pair, an aviary or any other element in your farm. You can also navigate to any page and access quick actions. You'll also find it via the search bar in the sidebar.
How do I use the context menu and three-dot menu?
The three-dot menu (top right of cards) and the context menu (accessible by right-clicking on an element) give you quick access to actions: edit, delete, duplicate, add to favorites, view details, etc. Available actions vary depending on the element type.
How do quick actions on record sheets work?
The most common status changes happen in one click from the sheet, without opening the form: a health record can be started, completed or cancelled; an available clutch goes to natural or artificial incubation, with dates calculated automatically; a loaned bird is marked as returned; a pair is separated or reactivated; a bird of unknown sex is declared male or female. When the action is reversible, the notification confirming it offers 'Undo' for a few seconds. Not to be confused with the dashboard quick actions, which are creation shortcuts.
How do notifications and reminders work?
AviarySoft sends you notifications for important events: upcoming hatchings, health reminders, ringing reminders and system messages. You read them from the bell in the navigation bar, and you choose which types alert you in your settings. If you have installed AviarySoft on your home screen, they also arrive on your phone, even with the app closed. They are written in your account language, and expense notification amounts are shown in your currency.
Can I enable dark mode?
Yes! In the settings, you can choose between light mode, dark mode, or automatic mode that follows your operating system preferences. On desktop, a button in the sidebar also lets you switch quickly.
Does the app keep a history of my actions?
Yes, AviarySoft automatically records your actions: creations, modifications, deletions. You can view recent activity in a dedicated widget on the dashboard, or find the detailed history of an element at the bottom of its record (for example, a bird's or pair's history).
What can the AI assistant do?
The assistant answers questions about your data: how many birds per species, which pairs are productive, what you have spent, who lives in which aviary, which birds and pairs are not assigned to any. It also records things for you, after your confirmation: a bird, a clutch, a treatment, an expense, an exhibition or an aviary, and it can handle several items in a single request. Finally, you can photograph a show result sheet: it extracts the results and offers to record them. It reuses the names you have already entered, suggests year-stamped rings matching the birth date, and asks you to decide when two very similar spellings coexist. The assistant on your data is reserved for the Pro plan.
What is on the Statistics page?
The Statistics page gathers your indicators by theme: flock, breeding, health, exhibitions and finances. Every tab follows the same presentation, with reading help on each chart and findings written out in plain words rather than figures you have to interpret alone: your peak month is named, and a year-end projection is offered. You will also find the average inbreeding coefficient of your flock. The page is reserved for the Premium and Pro plans.
Is there a getting started guide for new users?
Yes, at several levels. On your first login, a 7-step setup wizard guides you: farm name, regional settings, choice of species, breeds and colours. You can skip the non-essential steps and come back to them later. Then, the first time you open each page, an illustrated guide explains what you can do there: nine pages are covered (birds, pairs, clutches, aviaries, genealogy, health, expenses, exhibitions and configuration). The 'Do not show this guide again' box silences it page by page, the '?' button in the title bar brings it back whenever you want, and 'Review the guides' in the settings shows them all again. The tutorial and the guides are also gathered in the 'Help and support' panel of the sidebar.
How do I export my lists to CSV or PDF?
On the Birds, Couples, Eggs, Exhibitions, Expenses and Health pages, an export button is available at the top of the list. You can export the complete list or only the filtered items, in CSV format (for Excel or Google Sheets) or PDF (for printing or archiving). The generated PDF includes the AviarySoft logo, the export date and a formatted table. Exporting is reserved for the Premium and Pro plans: on the Free plan the button stays visible but locked.
Can I leave a review of the app?
Yes, a review window lets you rate AviarySoft and leave a comment. When the team replies to your review, you get a notification, and an email if you have enabled them. The reply appears above the stars, and you remain free to adjust your rating after reading it.
