Mobile App
Can I install AviarySoft on my phone or tablet?
Yes! AviarySoft is a progressive web app (PWA). On your first visit, an installation prompt appears automatically. You can also install it anytime from the 'Install the app' button in the sidebar (on desktop) or the 'More' menu (on mobile). The app then appears on your home screen with its own icon, just like a native app. A dedicated App Store and Google Play version is also planned soon. Do I need the App Store or Google Play?
Not at the moment. AviarySoft installs directly from your browser (Chrome, Edge, Samsung Internet…). Simply accept the installation prompt or use the 'Install the app' button in the menu. If this button doesn't appear, it means your browser doesn't support direct installation. You can still use AviarySoft normally from your browser. A native App Store and Google Play version is planned for later. See the complete guide: https://aviarysoft.com/en/install/
How do I install AviarySoft on iPhone or iPad?
On iPhone and iPad, Safari doesn't offer the standard install button. To add AviarySoft to your home screen: open AviarySoft in Safari, tap the share button (the square icon with an upward arrow at the bottom of the screen), then select 'Add to Home Screen'. The app will then launch in full screen with its own icon, just like an app downloaded from the App Store. Detailed guide with illustrations: https://aviarysoft.com/en/install/
Can I get notifications on my phone?
Yes. Install AviarySoft on your home screen and your reminders arrive like those of a regular app, even with the app closed: upcoming hatchings, health reminders, ringing reminders. You choose which types alert you, and the app offers to switch them on at startup, with a 'do not show again' if you would rather come back to it later. The permission applies to the device in your hand: it has to be granted on each phone or tablet.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. Your birds, pairs, clutches, health records and expenses stay available without a network, with their breeds, colours and statuses, along with the photos you have already viewed at least once. You can also enter data with no connection: add a bird, record a clutch, log a treatment or an expense. A banner permanently shows how many entries are waiting to be sent and flags those the server rejected. A connection is still needed the first time you open the app on a device, and your data is of course synchronised across all your devices as soon as the network is back.
What happens to the entries I make offline?
They are kept on the device and sent automatically as soon as the network is back, with nothing to remember. A bird created without a network appears in the list straight away, and a photo taken offline shows on the record immediately before being uploaded the moment the network returns. A banner shows how many entries are pending, and an entry rejected by the server is explained in plain words rather than by an error code. An interrupted entry that is sent again is never recorded twice.
